History is officially in the making. Olufunke Ayotunde Akindele, popularly known as Funke Akindele, has just announced that her highly anticipated cinematic project, The Four: No One Fights Alone, is heading to London for its UK premiere.

On November 29, 2026, The Four will become the first Nollywood production ever to premiere at the iconic ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London. The cast is even set to occupy the ultra-exclusive Royal Booth—the exact spot King Charles sat during the premiere of Gladiator!
There is absolutely no denying that the Queen of the Nollywood Box Office is a marketing genius. But while the industry celebrates this massive global milestone, we have to pause and ask a very uncomfortable question: Is modern Nollywood completely forgetting its local roots?

With a star-studded cast featuring Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Chioma Akpotha, Timini Egbuson, and Bisola Aiyeola, The Four is guaranteed to be a cinematic masterpiece when it hits global theaters on December 11, 2026. But as ticket prices reach record highs in Nigeria, cinema is rapidly becoming a luxury that everyday citizens can no longer afford.
Are massive international premieres and aggressive global marketing pushes forcing local ticket prices to a point where cinema belongs only to the elite? Or is this globalisation exactly what Nollywood needs to break the next international boundary?
Drop your thoughts in the comment section below—are you paying premium cinema prices to watch The Four this December, or are you waiting for it to hit streaming?
